Distillery Experience

Outside our bedroom window was a family of red squirrels - absolutely fascinating to watch - beautiful red with white tails.

Supposed to be a terrible day weather-wise, so we opted to do some 'indoor' activities - planned a drive around the area and a visit to a Distillery.

We first went to the main Aviemore shopping 'high street' - I HAD to buy a hat and gloves - things being much colder than I would have liked (and Dickie managing to pack his own hat and then cross 'hat, gloves, scarf' off the list for the rest of us!!!)

Lovely shops anyway. Billy bored - nothing remotely gothic!

Scenery stunning and we decided to head for Dalwhinnie Distillery. Booked into the tour and then went off for lunch in lovely little tea rooms - most unusual place, but smashing lunch.

Back at the distillery, did the tour and we were all fascinated. Had no idea how whisky is made, myself. Billy & Henry became 18 year old twins for the day (hhhmmmm), and we all signed up to an 'single malt appreciation club' - got a 'passport' to have free tours around other associated distilleries - NOTE a tour includes a dram at the end of the tour - personally I can think of nothing worse than a shot of whisky, no matter how sophisticated or old it is - but the men-folk enjoyed!
